Hollybush Inn beside the Caldon Canal

Hollybush Inn beside the Caldon Canal

Tonight we are parked up in the car park of the Hollybush Inn which is right beside the Caldon Canal. We are here to meet our friends Charlie and Liz Cordeaux who also own a slice of nb Debdale. Thanks to searchforsites.co.uk for the telling us about this place – we know the pub but not that it welcomed motorhomes – in fact the Murvi Owners Club are here with 10 vans for three days on a mini rally after

Shire Horse Show – 2

Shire Horse Show – 2

Day two and three of the Shire Horse Show really showed Bertie off at his best. The event is amazing with some wonderful sights and terrific moments – especially walking around the stables stroking noses and watching the gum and buzz of so many huge horses being prepared and titivated. Whilst the judging of the various classes of horse drew the most spectators it was the wagons and drays and harness horses that I loved to see. The show is

Shire Horse Show

Bertie is parked up in a field beside the Staffordshire County Showground whilst we attend the National Shire Horse Show. Amazing event if you like BIG horses. Bertie has a exciting day yesterday. When we left home we went to the Beccles Weighbridge to check Bertie’s weight – not good šŸ™ – both axles were below the limit but his overall weight was much too close to the limit and we are going to need to do something about that.

Our first Rally!

Our first Rally!

Bertie is safely home after a long weekend in Norfolk with 25 other Hymers! We have been to our first rally with the Hymer Club International. We all met at the large carpark at the Thursford Collection in Norfolk late afternoon on Friday 4th December where we had a dedicated area to park in. Shortly afterwards we took our seats for the 2015 Thursford Christmas Spectacular – a pre-Christmas show that is put on for a couple of months every

Home through the fog

Home through the fog

Sunday was an eventful day indeed! We slept in as Bertie is great for winding down and we find we settle down early and sleep well. Anyway we crept out of bed about 8:30 and put the heating on to warm Bertie up. The hot air vent in the showerroom does a great job at warming ones bare toes! After breakfast we took some time to film some video of Bertie inside and out which was quite fun. Video done

Stalham and the Staithe

Stalham and the Staithe

A lovely warm and sunny day. After a lazy start we tidied Bertie and went for a walk into the small town of Stalham. It took us around 20Ā  minutes to walkĀ  about a mile to Stalham along the old main road from Keeler’s Meadow in Sutton. The town/village itself is quite small and mainly unremarkable with a narrow street of shops leading to a large Tesco by the bypass. From the town we walked down Staithe Road and crossed

Bertie is off again

Bertie is off again

We could not leave Bertie alone and have un-winterised him, filled his water tank, packed his cupboards, made up the big bed and headed north! To be fair all that took up most of the Friday morningĀ  but we are promising ourselves that with lots of practice we can get that time down by several hours. The weather forecast looked good for this weekend and we fancied some more Bertie-time. We did not want a long drive so we found

Home again

Home again

Bertie is back at base, all unloaded and tomorrow he will go to the storage area to be winterised and have a rest for a while. His waterworks have finally been fixed with a smart new water pump. Last night we called J&M Caravans on the recommendation of the warden at St Neots campsite and this morning Mark arrived to fix Bertie’s waterworks. Even better the repair was covered by our warranty from MB&G that was included when we bought

Last night of this trip

We have just arrived at the Camping and Caravaning Club campsite at St Neots (Tuesday 20 October 2015). Not a good day today as last night Bertie’s water pump failed again. That coupled with no internet to find a repairer meant that we had a stressful morning trying to decide whether to divert to a caravan repairer, call someone out or just press on. We do have a 6 months motorhome warranty provided by MB&G so we rang them and
