There is a large aire on the edge of this little town. The town dates back to C9 and is well worth a visit.
On the road again. The weather has turned cooler with some cloud and quite a strong wind. Last night the temperature in Castalla went down to around 5c but we had been forwarned and I fitted Bertie’s windy warmer which is a padded screen that goes around the outside the windscreen and the front side windows. This does help quite a bit to keep the heat in and if we pull the front curtains too that provides another layer. Still

We have torn ourselves away from Daimus! We spent 13 nights on the Dunes Camper site for the princely sum of €125 although that does include 6 nights with electricity when it was wet and cloudy. We said our goodbyes to some friends on the website and we do hope we might see them again on another site one day. In the end we decided to stay for a couple more days in order to have time to explore the town of Gandia and especially the Ducal Palace of the Borjas (Italian spelling is Borgias – same family). We woke to a HUGE bang that rocked the van! It was 07:15 in the morning! That was followed by an extended barrage of gunfire that lasted for several minutes before it slowed to a steady trickle of trickle of shots. It was a good night and not as cold as it has been. The forecast suggests that we are in for a warm spell after rain later today. We serviced Bertie and said our goodbyes to our new friends Alice and Joe (http://www.artandfreedom.co.uk/) who were in the only other van in the aire last night. Another cold night. 2c this morning but bright and clear again with no breeze. We set off before 10am having dropped the grey water and filled up with fresh water. I do love free services! We have had a lovely day doing not a lot! It was quite cold last night and our thermometer said 1C at 8am and there was a touch of frost on the picnic tables outside! This seems quite strange given the very exotic plants around us – lots of yukka, lots of prickly pears, palm trees etc. Definitely a porridge morning!
